ELIGIBILITY
MEMBERSHIP & FUNCTIONS OF THE CONVOCATION
The Convocation shall consist of- :
(a) all persons who have obtained a degree or a diploma from the University, as approved by Senate and Council;
(b) all the persons, other than persons referred to in subparagraph
(c) who immediately before the commencement of this Statute were members of the Convocation of the University; and the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor(s), the Executive Director(s), the Registrar, the Deans, the academic employees on the staff establishment of the University, professors emeriti, and such other persons as Council may determine.
The functions of the Convocation are to-
(a) advise and facilitate liaison between the University and its former students;
(b) create networks, including Alumni Chapters and canvass support for the strategic objectives of the University, and
(c) organise members of the Convocation with a view to facilitating representation of this constituency on appropriate governance structures as determined in the Statute and the Rules.
1. ELIGIBILITY & NOMINATION RULES
i.) Employees and students of the University are not eligible as candidates for the President or Vice President of the Convocation [s59 (6) of the Institutional Statute].
ii.) Members of the Management Executive Committee of the University are not eligible to serve on the Executive Committee of the Convocation [s61(6) of the Institutional Statute]
iii.) The nomination form must be signed by the nominee, proposer and four (4) seconders.
iv.) A nominee may only accept one nomination.
v.) A nominee may not accept nomination to more than one (1) position.
vi.) A proposer or a seconder cannot sign more than one nomination for the same nominated position
vii.) A proposer may nominate on more than one (1) position.
viii.) A seconder may sign on more than one (1) position.
ix.) Proposers, seconders and nominees must be members of the Convocation of the University of Fort Hare and must provide their full details.
x. ) There are 6 available positions for nomination,
(a) President
(b) Vice - President
(c) Secretary
(d) three (3) additional members.
2. NOMINATION FORM
Nomination for the 6 members to the Executive Committee of Convocation (CONVEX) for the period 2025-2029 opened on the 27th of January 2025 and will close on the 9th of February 2025.

i.) Abridged CV
ii.) Motivation letter
iii.) Photo of the nominee
